All Naptural Hair

Hey everybody! I decided to start a page about natural hair care, products and styles for all the curly girls. So, I thought my first post should be a review. Yay!

I am subscribed to both Curlkit and Curlbox, which are companies that provide about 5-7 samples of natural hair products for $20 a month. I have been with Curlkit for a while now, but I recently joined Curlbox. I wanted to see what the fuss was about! So many people had been saying that Curlbox was way better than Curlkit. I was watching unboxing videos of both, and I’ve always favored Curlkit. Now, I have my own Curlbox!

I received a box from both companies for the month of April. So the winner is……CURLKIT!! I was very pleased with my box, as I have been since November. I still have tons of products that I have not even tried yet and probably won’t try. I just might start giving away some of my products to readers. I guess I will post it on the Giveaways page. Anywho, I am going to list the pros and cons of each kit, and let you decide.

CurlBox
Pros                                                                             Cons
-Shipped on time                                                         -Flimsy box
-Well-known brands and low key brands                   -The insert was only 2 pages
-2 Full sized products                                                 -Barely 5 samples
                                                                                    -Lustrasilk contains parabens
                                                                                    -Anu sample is super small!!

Products:
-Design Essentials Curl Enhancing Mousse
-Mizani Oil Sheen (Full size)
-Doris Mud Minerals treatment (Full size)
-Lustrasilk Moisture Max Deep Conditioner
-Anu Essentials Deep Conditioner

Curlbox was a disappointment. For those who do not know what parabens are, they are chemicals used as preservatives in certain products. They are thought to be associated with breast cancer based on tests and they mimic estrogen. There is no true confirmation yet, but it’s always cool to be careful. This kit seemed to focus more on repair, with the deep conditioners and the mud treatment. The oil sheen seemed out of place. I just think a shiny afro is not where it’s at. You can maybe use it for after getting it pressed. I don’t know. Also, that Anu sample is less than a sample. I guess someone with shorter hair can use it. A mess!

Curlkit

Pros                                                                              Cons
-Sturdy box (like a shoe box)                                      -Shipped extremely late this month
-7 Samples
-Insert contained several useful articles
-Well-known brands and low key brands
-2 Full sized products

Products:
-Ampro Pro Styl Vitamin E oil (Full size)
-Naturalista Juicy Leave-In Conditioner
-Karen’s Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia Leave-In Conditioner
-Ori Essentials Moisturizing Leave-In Conditioner (Full size)
-Amazing Botanicals Aloe Mint Moisturizing Spritz
-Honey Curls Hair Honey Oil Blend
-2 Ampro Pro Styl
            -Silk Edges with Olive Oil
            -Extra Hold

Curlkit did a great job this month, but the shipping issue was awful. It has never been that bad in the past! But I must say it was worth the wait. This kit was clearly a moisturizing edition. Everything was either a Leave-In or Essential oil. Moisture is key curly girlies!

Well that is my vote on the kits. What do you think? Would you rather have Curlbox or Curlkit?

  1. WOW the curlbox didn't even compare! I'm curious to know about the MudMinerals though! Great review - the pros and cons approach was super handy. -- Chris.
